with all the threads since the beginning of the LVC forums about the plethora of problems with 2000 LS's i just wanted to share that my 2000 LS V8 finally got dropped off at the mechanic for some preventative maintenance but still nothing has failed or caused the car to break down, not start, stall out, whatever. even though i don't commute to work in it, i still put it through its paces and am not exactly the most gas-conscious driver.

if some of you remember i pulled an error code a long ass time ago that hinted at a failed catalytic converter and got a $700 estimate to fix, well the mechanic is saying he's run the test again and it will definitely pass smog check, no need to replace, so that is a weight off my shoulders. well at least for the next two years who knows what will happen in 2010 when i need it smogged again.

after i get the car back i need to throw some new low-pro tires on there I currently have 235/45/20s, any suggestions from you guys with 20s? looking for the smoothest ride, and i'm in LA so very little weather to deal with.

I have 245/35/20 and so far I like them. I had Bridgestone RE 050A Pole Positions that worked fine until their end.

hey steagle, where in LA? are going to go to the meet we're having? my tires hardly make any noise, they are pirelli pzero's

I have no idea if they're available in an appropriate size, but I think you'll find that Michelin Pilot P-2s are the most responsive tire made for the street. Not cheap, mind you, but unbelievable for traction in anything less than snow/ice. If you can, give them a try!

what's up rick, i live in universal city. when is the LA meet? if it's soon i doubt i'll be able to go, i have to do more work on the ride after i gets out of the shop... installing a new tail light, new bulbs up front, detail and polish... but we'll see what happens. thanks for the recommendation.
