finally did a spark plug (motorcraft) and coil replacement (hungary visteons)

first question, are the ebay visteons still a recommended coil replacement?
i bought them at a time when the forums recommended them as a cheaper alternative to the motorcraft "china" ones

car runs and feels good, trans def feels different.
it shifts on time now, but shifts a bit harder, or should i say i can feel it.
feels "performancey" but i like shifts smooth and "nonexistant" for now.

yesterday, i experienced the ultra hard shift bump from the rear at second gear so apparently the coil replacements didnt fix that tranny issue even thought i was hoping it would.

so im guessing its time to get the solenoid module replaced? or looked at?
is it something i can do myself??
or possibly just a software tune/reflash can fix it?

thanks for any advice

yea i had my batt disconnected for about 3hrs which is how long it took me to do the maintenance, everything reset in the interior, but dunno if it helped resetting any tranny data

one plug had oil on the threads.. i didnt think much about it. until now... and now i cant remember which cyl it was.
and just now found my felpro gasket set that i bought for the valve covers/seals.. i shouldve done that too :\

Definitely do the reset by disconnecting the negative battery cable. I don't know what the minimum time is to reset the adaptive learn setting but I do it overnight and the last time was when I changed plus and coils. I figured my engine is going to be running differently so this is the ideal time to let the PCM re-learn all of its perameters and make adjustments.

I've done this twice now..once before with no other changes and after swapping plugs/coils. Both times it made a noticable difference for the better. The tranny shifts smoother at all rpms and the TC seems to be less spastic.

cool, i'll def give it the overnight disconnect and see what happens

For those harsh SST shifts, just repeat the shift a few times and it will smooth out. Alternatively you could search for the proven transmission reset procedure that seems to work quite well (posted by Frogman). No need to disconnect the battery :)
