Ok so I just noticed something last night while driving. When I first bought the LS it always had a loud fan noise. It sounded like an aircraft or a vacuum. Then about 2-3 weeks ago I replaced all the thermostat housing, down tube, etc and now there is no fan noise anymore.

Question is, was the fan noise normal or did I mess something up?

yes

thats tough to answer... if the car is not overheating and running fine... then i dont see how you messed it up

Yeah it seems to be running fine and staying cool. I wonder what the strong fan noise was prior though. Maybe the car knew it was leaking coolant and kicked the fan into overdrive? LOL

Yes haha so much so that my step dad nick named the LS "the aircraft." You could hear it coming from around the corner.

The LS fan is very noisy compared to other cars.

With the AC on it kicks in to high. If its loud at idle that means the cooling system is not pressurizing correctly.

You were running hot before, and now you're not.

The temperature gauge only indicates water temperature. If you had trapped air due to leaks, the head temperature would be higher than the water temperature. The PCM was reacting to this and running the fan at a higher speed.

This is the same thing my fan is doing. Almost same nick name. The 747. hahahah. I am going to empty out the radiator and add coolant because it looks like the previous owner has water, no coolant.

Make sure you get the proper mix in there. These aluminum engines need the corrosion protection.
