eyelids turning dark green

hmm. ken, not to call you out and be a d**k because you're obviously a great asset to the ls community.....but retailing 101 is all about protecting customers from suppliers. without that, a retailer would strictly be an unnecessary middle man. I don't think that its reasonable for this member to have to wait until you get your issue settled with your supplier. It's been 3 months now, has he received at least a refund? A retailer should NEVER delay resolving a customer satisfaction issue due to delays in supplier resolution.
First of all, I won't get into retailing about this situation regarding your "retailing 101" comment. All that have replied have gotten replies from me about this issue and want replacements rather than refunds. Since that is the case no refund is needed. This involves more than one customer at this time.

If you have any issues about this you can contact me directly about it.

Hey Ken,
Do you have an input as to why they are turning green, Is it a fading issue from sun, plastic degeneration, chemical reaction or is it still unknown?

The manufacturer is stating that the gloss black eyelids should be painted and not left unpainted. That's why it is marketed as a paintable surface. They informed us to update our description as saying:
(Note: The gloss black eyebrows can be used without painting but we recommend having them painted and/or clear coated for added protection. Do not use harsh chemicals on either product as it will damage the finish and could possibly cause discoloration.)

okay and have you asked all the painful questions.
Like what kind of clear coat is most compatable?
Is sunscreen in the clearcoat a requirement?
What chemicals are most likely to interact with the substrate and discolor it?

I'm not one for adding a lot of bling to the car, but the 'brows looked good and I thought they would sharpen up my silver LS.
Now I'm gonna wait unitl I see how all this plays out

not sure what you meant in your first sentence but everything else makes sense. unfortunate when issues like this are posted on the internet because you don't see the whole story...just reading the thread makes it looks like this guy was left hanging for 3 months. i see now from your response that's not the case.:)

Let me chime in here in Ken's defense. I didn't start the thread, I simply added to it and he has been very accommadating. This isn't Ken's fault at all, and being a seller for the manufacturer, he is doing everything right. I wasn't looking for a refund or a replacement. I just wanted to inform him of what was happening to his product. Sometimes it takes months from a manufacturer to straighten out their mistakes. No biggie. Now the LS community knows that we have to paint our eyebrows before installation. No biggie. I would just like to thank Ken for making my (and plenty of others') LS look its best.

I was just trying to get further educated. I'm not knocking Ken.
I know that he has proven himself a reliable source for LS parts.

It's all good at this point. Most folks don't see what is going on in the background with this. I, for one, will not take advantage of any LvC members and will not jeopardize my reputation on something like this. I'd rather lose money on it than make it sound like I wouldn't take care of the customer. Your "retailing 101" comment kind of hit me wrong because you didn't know what was going on. However, I just let is slide by without any other comment. It's water under the bridge.

However, I appreciate all the support here but I'm the one wanting to support each of you. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for all of you to begin with. By all means, I would have replaced all of the eyelids by now out of my inventory if I had them. I stopped carrying the eyelids in inventory since June due to time limitation on my part. It is the same product but I have chosen to have the manufacturer drop ship it for now. This may change in the future.

It will be resolved one way or the other.

Okay so do these other 'lids/'brows need to be clearcoated?
If so what type of clearcoat is recommended (urethane, laquer, some special acrylic???)

I'd suggest any type of urethane coating. Or, you can take it to your local paint shop and they can probably paint them. Look at www.paintscratch.com as they carry painting products.

I just wanted to know since I have done some good painting and wanted to know what the recommended materials were.

Alternate solution...

No one's mentioned painting the rest of the car that lovely shade of green. Not much interest in that, I suppose.:)
