I say its personal opinion, Ive never heard a 32V 4.6 through straight pipes but I have heard a 16V, and it sucked. Way too raspy and poppy. But again exhaust is very subjective. So its really up to you.
From what I have read, the vast majority go with an x-pipe. Both for smoother acoustics and better gains. When it comes down to exact performance, straight pipe is rarely best, some sort of balance between sides is needed. Will it be a huge difference, probably not at all - but if every little bit counts....
If you really want to smooth out the exhaust note, go dual x-pipes
+1 on the dual x's.. I kinda want to put twin's on mine. I have a usual magnaflow set up. I want to put mine on a dyno to see where I am.
Then ofcourse save up to:
1. Buy 2 x-pipe's
2. Buy tubing
3. LEARN HOW TO WELD!
Then dyno the w/ a twin set up, but I wouldn't be looking for HP gains over the mag's. I would want reduced cabin drone and increase low end torque.
I don't want to hack and weld onto my existing setup.. Just alittle C.Y.A. if I don't like the results
Maybe I can get a sponsor to help pay for it!! You never know
I know from my own experience that a xx pipe and genos mufflers were the best. EVERYONE loved the sound of my carm, so many people commented on it. I remember these 2 hot chicks driving in avette pulled next to me and were like that thing sounds awsome. there car was faster but they still commented on mine. I am not sure tho if that was b4 or after my headers but even b4 I had them installed it sounded amazing.
