Hi all.
Since my Mark has spent most of its life in california and marbella, the evap tray will be alright won't it? Er,........no!

Looks reasonable here

Here is a closer look

Just about all the coating was peeling off, but it still took another 2 hours of scraping to get most of it off.

Luckily it hasn't gone through anywhere, so it is now at a local shop awaiting media blasting and powder coating.

The previous owner told me he had changed the rear brake pads about 9 months ago, so imagine my surprise when I saw this after I removed it for a good service and clean up.

Did he really put new pads on old rotors? Obviously he did.

The rear upper shock mounts looked like this

and since I am in the UK and have limited access to parts quickly, I found some new shock bushes that I never used buried in my garage (from another car) and turned them down using a lathe and an angle grinder!! Lots of smoke and a really bad smell but they fit and are working well.

Although this is the bit I enjoyed the most - burning out the old bushes!

Old plate media blasted and painted and reinstalled

I know it looks like the car has been neglected, but its not as bad as it sounds above. Loving it, and loving the fixing more!!

Andy.

If you ever need front brakes, order them for a 2000 Ford Taurus, same exact thing, however the rears are different

I'm sure as long as you don't mind paying the shipping, a couple of us could mail you anything you need

And scraping paint? No sir, wire brush and an electric drill = much faster

the front brakes are the same on a lot of ford/lincoln/mercurys. the 11.6 inch brakes were popular.

+1 on the shipping overseas thing. i've seen many things worked out things for our canadian members.
