How big of a job would swapping a motor from a 2001 mustang cobra, into a 98 mark? is it possible?
My coworker wants to sell me one for 2,500 dollars. The engine has 32,xxx
thousand miles on it.

pretty straight forward if you swap all the sensors, pulleys, and the intake, you could probably make the intake work tho which would give you extra power and save you some time. I believe unity has a aviator motor in his.

Ya. I have an 04 engine with an 01 intake in a 96. In a 98 you have more intake clearance. Also your engine harness will be more compatible and they both have COP, no spark plug wires. So unlike with mine, you *may* not have to do anything to your engine harness. Should be a very easy swap.

Thanks for the info guys...in your opinoins is 2,500.00 installed a fair price for a 01 cobra engine? with 32 thousand miles on it?

thats dirt ass cheap IMO. just the motors easily go for that much, and an install is usually about a grand itself.

He(my co-worker) said he could install it for me but he siad that it would have to be calibrated for my car, and that i might have to take it some where else to get it tuned....I dont know if he is full of crap or if he just needs money bad....
ill post pics if i decide to get it this weekend (gotta talk it over with my girlfriend).
and thanks for your input to those who replied

There might be an issue with different injectors and such that would result in the need for a tune. That really depend on how much mustang motor you use and how much Mark motor you use lol...

It will run fine. Tune would be a great idea though. You will need the right fuel rails, although I think 01 was return style? I forget, either that or you need 99 rails.

May want to think of picking up 03/04 manifolds and getting them on now. It will be easier, they are cheap and I am pretty sure exhaust work will be needed no matter what. Stock manifolds are a no-go I think.

Been a while since I had to think of this swap stuff.

You will gain some torque and HP I am sure. It will be worth the swap considering the price.

definately a good deal for 2500, I would do a tune just to get the trans shifting better then stock. The nice thing about 99 on up 4v motors is the number of blowers you can put on it.

Thanks for the info guys. Im think im going to go for it. I be back with pics of the install.

$2500 installed is a good deal but not worth it IMHO just to have C heads and a Cobra intake. If you plan on other big mods especially a supercharger then I would do it. Put that forged crank to good use.

You can't use the old intake as the newer motor would have C heads. And you would need a 8 bolt flexplate.

only thing id be worried about is the quality of the install, you dont want wire nuts and zip ties holding everything together. or even worse would be half way through the install he realizes he screwed himself and starts hitting you up for more money. not sure of his character just stating there are some half asses out there so be careful
