I'm going to have my Eibach spring kit inatalled on Wensday.
Read the instructions and have a question for those of you that have installed them already.

The instruction sheet has a line drawing that shows the bump-stop.
It shows that you are to trim the front and back bump-stops by 25 mm.

I assume this means you are to use the stock bump-stop that has been shortened by 25 mm, and not to trim 25 mm off and use the 25 mm piece.
Is this correct ?

I think they are talking about trimming 25mm off the stock one and using the bigger piece. I would call Eibach to make sure!

The install instructions tell you to trim 25mm off of the bump stop.

Why cut off 25mm? What does it do?

What would happen or do to your car if you DON'T cut it off?

The bump stop does just that.. It does not allow your car to bottom out metal on metal suspension parts, drive shaft etc.etc. if you dont cut it you more likely when you hit a bump(no phun intended) you will feel a thud rather than smooth suspension movement.

???? If there is more padding there, then you shouldn't hear a bump... The extra padding should help then. Am I wrong?

hmmm.. I think I got if figured out.. I had it all backwards. Cutting off a portion of the bump stomp allows more movement in the strut/shock to compensate for the length taken by the lowering springs.

(example: these numbers are just pulled from the sky)
The stock strut/shock w/ stock springs has about 7" of movement to move within. But due to the lowering, now you only have 6-5.5" to move within now.. so when you hit a bump, the suspension has 1-1.5" less room for movement, causing it to "bottom out" easier.

So cutting 25mm or .985 inches.. is to compensate or give back length for the 1-1.5" lost/taken by lowering your car.

DAMN I'M GOOD!!! for the first time, i figured it out on my own.

Is my thinking right?

So if you don't cut them, you'll have to be extra careful going over bumps (not that people who are lowered don't do anyways).. But as for the driveability or anything like that associated to NOT cutting the bumpers isn't going to be out anything.
