I recently bought both Ebc brake pads and cross drilled/slotted rotors. I had to return the pads since the box they came in was torn up and had missing clips. Seems like they took those out or lost them. Even the brake pads had scuffs and small nicks. My question is has anyone used cross drilled rotors with OEM pads.

I don't think I remember anyone just using new/slotted rotors with OEM pads. Most have replaced pads with the rotors as a kit or with different aftermarket brands at the same time. I wouldn't think it would hurt, though. You'll get different opinions on the ceramic vs. semi-metallic preference, but the stockers should work for you - even if it's only temporary.

My Ls has been sitting for almost 5 days. I decided to order these through regular standard shipping (sucks). Now that I got them and they are missing the clips, I dont want to wait another 2 days for another set. Thats why I'm asking if its ok to run with new OEM pads on these rotors. I will try them out and post up results.

I have used Reybestos, Wagners, Monroes pads and they are all garbage. Never used EBCs, but i am pretty sure the OEM pads have better quality than they do. Go ahead and toss those bad boys on the car, you will be fine.

I bought pads and rotors for $256 shipped from amazon. I returned the pads since the inner box where the pads came in was all torn and missing clips. Seems as if they had used the box as a hockey puck. Im getting the OEM Ford pads ( $88 same as Ebc) from the dealer. Let's see how they handle tomorrow.

I've had excellent success (they are on all 3 LSes) with Duralast Gold ceramic pads. They stop very well and produce very little dust.

My only issue with the ebc pad/rotor combo im using is that they tend to make a little to much dust. but other than that im happy (although they were missing 1 clip aswell, my mechanic tossed one on for me with out much issue, he just found it amusing)
nearly a year in and so far they done good.

sorta threadjacking

but OEM pads related :D

2 years ago i replaced my pads with OEM pads only to have them squealing/squeaking within months(fronts), replaced them with another OEM set because the noise was annoying, just fronts, and im getting squealing again after a little over a year. Normal?

Problem with the pads, or is something else going on?

If you havent replaced the rotors all you are doing is killing the pads because worn rotors wear out pads very fast.

You need to do rotors and pads at the same time. At the very least resurface them but new is better.

That's driving me nuts as well but I think its normal for most pads. Just my experience. I went through ceramic 3 sets and I couldn't stand the noise ! Btw it was 3 different sets within 18 month , then tried regular pads. Then went to semi -metallic. I used those pads untill they wore through the brake line and ruined the wheels. About 2 years Eh ! Car was dead then anyway. I only drove it one week before the motor blew !

the pads werent worn tho, they were plenty thick, almost identical (in thickness) to the replacements

Ive also had the same problem with brake pads as well every noise possible! I purchased the OEM clips and problem was solved.

The squeal is the pad vibrating in the caliper. You need shims or an anti-squeal product to stop the squeal.

Turning the rotor just kills it as the rotor becomes thinner and can't dissipate heat as well.

the ebc rotors are not cross-drilled they are dimpled, which can be good. I have heard people reporting rotors cracking becuase they were drilled poorly, this is only the case with cheaper rotors of course. So in the case of ebc, it is probably good that they only dimpled the rotors.
