My emergency brake works fine. The cable the goes between the 2-rear tires seems really loose when the e-brake is not on. I think its bouncing around back there and hitting my sway bar, causing some clanking.

Should this cable be tight with the e-brake off? Is there something in the middle of the cable that should be holding it to the car vs. just being suspended by both wheels? Does anybody have any pics of this? I seem to remember zip ties in my old Mark. This one doesn't have that.

I've tried searching but too many posts come up when you search anything with brakes in it.

Thanks,
Ken

No support, it just hangs there. There are stock cable ties to hold the cables to the sway bar near the wheels.

Doug - thanks for the pic!

Does the metal box in the middle where all the cables meet swing loose enough to bang into your sway bar when the e-brake is off? I've got to either zip tie something down there, or tighten the cables.

Zip tie the e brake cable harness ( the little metal box) to the differential support channel

do not tie it to the sway bar, there is no TSB for it, but the sway bar moves, which is why your original mounts for it are not there anymore

My loose e-brake cable, that is now zip tied, is not my rattling problem :(

To me the rattle sounds like a loose sway bar end-link, but they all are OK. I had a bad one in my 1993, that's why I know the sound.

Doug - Check your pm, time for Ken's Lincoln to go to DLF's shop. She needs some suspension help. I hear you know a little about the suspension on these pigs :) lol
