I have a 2000 Lincoln LS-8 with sport pkg and I was sideswiped by a lady who was trying to make a right turn from the left lane (!) My driver's side mirror was knocked off (as well as damage to fender and door).

I was wondering if the side mirrors are heated as we had a snowstorm in Toronto and both side mirrors were covered in dew. Does anyone know how I can check if the mirrors are heating (if they indeed have this capability)?

I'm not sure if the dealer connected the mirror correctly for heating (it also has a 1 inch scratch though it that I'm not pleased about).

Look forward to your comments.

Thanks!

Heated mirrors were standard on this car. When your windsheild wiper heater comes on so does the heated mirrors. This happens automatically at a certain temperature (something like 40 or 45f).

the mirrors on my first LS did not have the "heated mirror" symbol that my current ls has, and the ice stayed on until it was scrapped off

On gen II, the mirror heat is controlled by the rear windshield heat switch.
