Down Shift Problem passing gear?

Ok now i recently returned from afghanistan. My wife has been driving my Lincoln an 03 LS V6 I have a couple problems now.

--- If i am in motion maybe around 3,4, or 5th gear. and i need to pass and floor it it revs and then kicks in to like a neutral gear, with a wrench shaped light on the dash. What is this all about? I have to turn the car off and then restart it and its fine until the next time i try to pass.

---Next i have like a roaring coming from somewhere up front when in motion, very loud around 60. Wheel Bearing? i have the sprint springs (sagging entirely to much) going eibach soon.


Please help i have searched but must be off on terminology. similar probs but none that i found like mine

Wrench shaped light: Electronic throttle control (if equipped): Illuminates when the engine has defaulted to a ’limp-home’ operation. Report the fault to a dealer at the earliest opportunity.

Just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this was going to try to avoid the stearlership. I will go there any way.
