i went to install my pioneer avic d3 today at the local sound shop in BK(brooklyn)...the dude in the store tells me he cant install it because double dins dont fit in the ls PERIOD! i told him to check out LVC and get some info and still a no go.. im thinking about doing it myself can anyone walk me thru this or give me the number to a good install place in the BK area

I'm going to purchase the Kenwood DDX512 here real soon and am going to get a sub in the trunk as well. Thinking about having someone install it. Do you have the LSK bezel to prove it to him? Let me know how that goes

i just ordered the bezel but i think imma go with a cutom fiberglass dash because i wanna do some other upgrades ill post pics when its done...install quote was 300 tho

any body that says that a double din wont fit DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, find a new shop, they oviously specialize in focus's and civic's. too many places go by the policy that "if we dont stock a dash kit then it cant be done" even if they could mod the nav bezel, i would be supprised if they could get the fact subs to work

i'm thinking they probably do it for one main reason..."to cover their own a$$". they just don't want to be held responsible if something does go wrong

yea i was guessing that aswell but he also said that theres a feature on LS's that once you un plug the factory radio the car shuts off (security feature) and wont restART until its reprogramed! true/false?

false, i did my audio install as well as many members on here and none have had that problem. total :bsflag:

ive worked on many bmw's, benze's, audi's and a couple of astins and have never heard of the radio disabeling the car. a lot of radios will lock themselves out but not the car. just another case of someone making sh!t up to make you think they know what they are talking about when in reality they have no clue and will not admit to it

lsboosted, That was so cool!!!!!!!!! You shoved right back in his face!!!! If more people would do that, these so called professionals would really have to do their homework before they work on a car.

haha thats great its gotta feel good to prove a "professional" wrong. props for doing it yourself you will be happier when done knowing you did it
