Both of my rear door locks are bad. Driver's side will unlock but not lock. Passenger just doesn't do anything. I took them both apart a little while ago and everything looks great. I re-greased the gears and still nothing.
So, I'm wondering if anyone has looked into what the actual failure point is. I mean, they're small motors. All they do is spin a couple gears... there can't be much to it. Has anyone attempted to take one apart, find out what's wrong, and repair the motor? Or maybe pull it and take it to a local repair shop that works on small motors?
I'm going to look around my area and see if I can find a shop that works on small motors and see if they want to take a stab at it. I refuse to spend $100+ per side to replace the entire latch. I could try a junkyard or a part out but the parts aren't guaranteed to be working properly.
