Door Latch Stuck (locked Position)

if anyone has this problem where the door is open and your cleaning the latch and you lock it by pressing it in, to unlock it you take a screwdriver and stick it into the latch to release and you will see the lock move once, then you open the door handle and the door fully is unlocked
