First off with the door ajar, what you need to do is spray some WD-40 in the latch assembly. Open the door, spray a liberal amount of WD-40 into the latch assembly that is on the door. Close, then open the door and repeat this several times. Then perform on the other door. This should take care of the door ajar problem.

The reason we get the door ajar message is because the pin (which has a VERY weak spring behind it) that actuates the message is not much bigger than the head of a pen, and the opening is not much bigger than the pin itself. What happens is the grease that is used on the latch assembly is like a freakin dirt magnet, and that dirt gets into that opening not allowing the pin to slide into the opening giving us the 'door ajar' message.

As for your gas mileage, the O2 sensors could be one culprit. Have you done a spark plug/wire change in recent past (of course that all depends on if you have a Gen 1, not a Gen 2.....no wires on a Gen 2)? If you have not done a tune up in the past 20,000 miles then you might want to do that along with the O2 sensors.

Hope that helps.

i think we should have this as a seperate forum :). allong with, "broken air bags, and why are my headlights so dim?" just funnin.

Ray is right! (Damn did I say that LOL...no Ray know's his $#!+) All it takes to get rid of the pesty old door adjar is WD-40 keep a small can in the glove box LOL.

Only 17 mpg's ouch!! That's not right!!

the wd40 worked great fixed it right away

my car has 43,000 miles was only driven 15 miles a day if that. Its a 1996 and is in great shape anyone have any other ideas about why i get such crappy gas mileage

Although I have never given much thought to it, I also get about 18 MPG on my 98 Collector's Edition w/44K.....I bought the car 2 years ago w/22K and it was 18 MPG then and 18 MPG now.........Car runs like a top, always gets at least 91 octane and I don't have a heavy foot (my wife will tell you otherwise :give ) ......... No, I have never changed the O2 sensors so I am definately curious to know what we can do to get better milage as well.

Thanks!
