I have a 2000 TC that I've had now for about 2 yrs. For at least the last year and a half I've noticed that when I'm driving down the road all the dome lights (headliner and ones mounted at the bottom of the door panels) have come on completely at random. Sometimes they stay on for only a few seconds, other times for several minutes. When they do come on there is no way to shut them off, hitting the switch to do so does nothing.

I only notice this when I'm driving at night. When they do turn off by themselves I have hear a really high pitched buzz but I don't know where it's coming from. I've seen this car do this even when its not turned on, the key is in my pocket, from across a parking lot. When I had the automatic headlights engaged, those would come on as well. Who knows how often this happens when I'm not even near the car. My wife woke me up out of bed one night because she saw the dome lights and headlights were when the car was in the garage, she thought someone was trying to steal it.

Sometimes the car will do this 2-4 times during a 20min drive a couple days in a row, sometimes it will go weeks and it won't do it.

Another problem this car has is that if I leave it for more that 24hrs. not being driven, it won't start. It acts like the battery is dead. Now I know what you are thinking "the above stated problem is the cause of your battery issues". Good in theory, however when I pull up my trailblazer to jump it and connect the jumper cables, the TC starts right up. It doesn't have to dead battery lag when the key is turned. It fires up like there is nothing wrong with the battery.

I've had the a local tire shop/mechanic take a look at my TC for this problem, but the battery and alternator test good.

I'm so confused on what to do at this point.

I had a dome light issue on my Continental where the dome light was staying on. I can't remember if the display said the door was ajar but I don't think it did. When I would drive the light would go out then come back on at stops and lower speeds. The problem turned out to be the front passenger door switch. I just sprayed some contact cleaner in it and the problem went away. I didn't have any dead battery issues or buzzing like you said you are having. Maybe your dome light issue is a faulty or dirty door switch.
