The LS has sway in the back end, and the dealer said its the passenger rear hub. He claims that nobody sells just the hub, that the whole knuckle needs to be replaced....I call BS, but im starting to believe the dealer; I cant find a rear hub ANYWHERE.

...Or is it not called a hub? Thats just what he was saying, the rear hub is bad.

Thanks but I looked on there and didn't find anything on rear hubs, or knuckles een. Everything that comes up is for the front.

It was probably the rear hub bearing, do you have a groaning grinding niose? Or is your actual hub bad? Hub bearings can be bought.

See that's what I thought, there's been a groaning for quite some time now, but now there's a lot of sway in the rearend. Wouldn't that be the whole hub or would bad bearings cause sway?

The hub rides on the bearings which in turn ride on the spindle. As such, the bearings are your likely culprit.

It's very unlikely the hub is bad. But then again, since you've driven on it for... "some time now" like a pinhead, with possible bad bearings, then it may be scored and damaged beyond repair. And of course, the same applies to the spindle(s). One or both may be damaged as well if the bearing inner ring went south.

Pull the hubs and see what you're working with. Diagnosing a car over the interwebs isn't always idiot proof.

I personally haven't driven the car lately besides moving it, it was my pinhead mother who decided the noise was no big deal.

Ill definitely be jacking the car up as soon as I can (probably not for a couple days since we just got 4+ inches of snow, and now were getting hammered with rain, and its 30 degrees outside :)

I've been there and done that. I bought the whole knuckle assembly from TeamFord at the time I replaced mine. It costed me $362 but that was three years ago. The noise you hear is your wheel bearing going out. Now you can buy a new bearing and have it pressed in but like mentioned above is it's been driven excessively then you should just replaced the whole knuckle. Check these to sites out and give them a call: http://www.newfordparts.com/ifrm_browse.php

I know, thats where I saved it from, im just wondering if its too good to be true that #5 can be bough tby itself...I dont want to order it and them send something else you know what I mean?

Its saying 00-01 like 57$ for the hub, 01-06 700 for the hub so im thinking the dealer thought we had an 01+?

Well its so damn cold and icy outside, im gonna go out on a limb here and order it. I still havent driven the car, and my moms wanting me to overnight the hub (Shes paying of course), but she doesnt realize im not changing that unless she finds me a warm garage to work in :)

Cool...this is awesome...bought a part that is unavailible!

You might have to order the whole knuckle. Ive never seen the rear hub for sale by itself since I've owned my LS. That's what I had do when I replaced mine.

I would call before you order again. These diagrams can be confusing as to what is sold individually and what's not. Call and speak to someone that way you get the right information and your order want get delayed or you find out otherwise that the part is not available.

So I need a "Knuckle and hub assy" and not just the knuckle? This is great....I did my whole front end on my Explorer 3 weeks ago for cheaper than this f'n knuckle.

^I only ask that because Tasca has the knuckle for like 680$ and the other site has knuckle, and knuckle & hub assy.

You could buy the bearing but you are going to have to take the knuckle off and have it pressed in.

It would really help if my mom was home, I dont even care that its single digits outside, im so frustrated right now! I would tear into that back end and figure out the culprit myself.

I found a whole knuckle assy. at a junkyard for 30$ and I swear its the only junkyard within 100 miles that has an LS around here. Naturally they only have 1, and the informative clerk on the phone couldnt have been any more help.

Me: "Does it still have the rear passenger side knuckle or hub"
Clerk "I dont know I mean I dont see why not"

Do I need any special tools to remove it? I have to work at 5, my mom wont be home until then probably, so im half tempted to just to grab that knuckle for 30$
