This is a simple question.
Do you think America should be a Democratic Socialism?
The term democratic is not a reference to political party.

Should we abandon the old conventions of free market capitalism of the past and instead shift our economy to this more equitable system of economics?

....and if possible, express your opinion. You don't need to defend it, but this is a significant question representing a major change in the way this country operates, so at least give us a glimpse as to why you feel one way or another. Also, let's all not sharpshoot and challenge the opinions presented in this thread. For the time being, let's just make this an opinion thread and not a debate one.

I'm already working harder this year knowing full well I will have to earn 30% more just to have the same amount after Obama, Reid and Pelosi get done with me in '09.

Alas, I take comfort in knowing most of my hard earned money will go to support starving artists,:hump: the unemployed and people that don't want to pay their mortgages because they got a 'nothing down' deal and think they got screwed.

Bring it on. 2 years of the 3 stooges will make this Country take a hard right turn. In the meantime, I'll set up a few offshore companies and run them from there, only taking as income the bare minimum to pay expenses.

I'm ready to play the game.

Heck I earned all your money Bryan - pole dancing is hard work;)

See... just singles from Reps. Dems could always be counted for 5s and 10s and even 20s - no lap dancing required ;)

There are people actually foolish enough to want a "democratic socialist" country on this forum?!

no,no,the democratic thingy.......
Is this a serious question??
You want to know what Democratic Socialism will cost? The price tag?

Imagine SOCIALISM, but you get to vote for the socialists in charge.
Got it? So, like communism, but with elections.

But does are vote every change anything? Seems to be same sh*t different Pres. Time after time.

There are failures in Washington that certainly appear to be repeated by most politicians, regardless of party. But there are VAST differences between the party.

For example, you remember when the Republicans first took over the Congress in 1995. Can you imagine the Democrats ever working to advance a platform like the Contract with America?

And, in case anyone has forgotten, while everything didn't pass, they did bring everything in it up for debate and a vote.

So, Calabrio - are you really going for a 'social democrat' society - sort of what Norway has? Or complete worker ownership? Or nationalization of the economic system?

Yay! Let's be just like Cuba, or North Korea! Or the Soviet Union! Or China!

Whee!

I'm in favor of a free market capitalist system.

Hey, we are all capitalists here, we own American luxury cars...:)

But according to Foss, he is going for the nationalization of assets, like Cuba, or North Korea! Or the Soviet Union! Or China!

Just curious...
