I've got a small problem with my P R N D5 D4 light on my gear selector bezel. I believe it has to do with a loose connection. Sometimes the light doesn't light the P R N D4 D5 up. Not a big deal, I know. Problem is, I'm a stickler for perfection. I've worked on cars quite a bit and I can tell you right now, I hate taking interiors apart -- they never go back together the same after you take them apart...

How do I know its a loose connection? Well, after hitting the console with a couple of light love taps on the bezel it lights up.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone might have access to a diagram on how to access this bezel. I've had to do it on vehicles in the past to change the P R N D bulb when it burns out -- not a fun task. Just looking for a diagram so I can make sure I dismantle the console correctly and minimize the risk of breaking tabs and connectors.

I appreciate it guys. Thanks.

What year is your LS? It makes a difference in the answer.

Just pull up then. Its only held in by pins, or whatever they are called, but no screws. Just pull up gently but firmly on the edges of the center console next to the ash tray and will start lifting. You will prob need to put the shift nob on d5 or just away from park to get the console cover off completly.

pretty much wh said, ive took mine apart atleast 3 times and just did my door panels and yeah i hate doing it everytime and I feel like im going to break something or it not go back on right but once you do it you see its not bad. if you really want to get technical and get down in there then heres how. pop the black piece under your shifter down and unscrew the screws and take off your shifter handle. then this worked for me best, I opened my little flip door next to the ash tray and pulled outward on the 2 corner pieces to pop them out and you can work your way down around the whole piece and lift it out and over the shifter bar. next the actual small square piece that goes over the p,n,d etc is held on in 4 spots but their just little push in clips, you'll see what I mean if you look down at it. i just took a flathead screwdriver, slightly pushed in on each spot and pryed outward and pop each corner up until all four sides are up and lift it off. this will expose the 2 light sockets assuming you have the v8 like mine and bulbs etc and you can see where the wiring comes up and hooks to the light sockets. this is really all you will need to do to be able to get to the all the wires, and if you even would want to go farther you could see what you need to unscrew and pop off to get to everything. sorry for being so long but the first time i did it, being able to read something like this made me feel alot more comfortable about it all. just take your time, go slow, and apply slight hard pulls while moving along the sides of the piece and you will have no problems what so ever, hope this helps. Zach

just make sure if you start at the front of the silver piece(by pulling out from hole for the cig socket as mentioned above), dont let the metal clips(that you just released) touch the climate controls, as it could scratch them

2004 V8 -- I guess that would help, huh? Sigh...it's been a week already. Thank God it's Friday

Outside of that, thanks for the help guys. Zach, thank you very much for the detailed outline. The more detail the better -- I like to know what I'm getting into. As soon as mother nature decides to grace me with 50 degree weather again, I will go out and spend some time on it. Hopefully the loose wire is easy to pinpoint and get corrected.

Thanks again guys, you're all a wealth of knowledge
