How does this thread have anything to do with the LS????

**sarcasm

not even sure what's happening in this thread anymore hahaha

SO- do we have a car deal going here? I don't have any wiggle room

The only LS worth owning:

I think it's 610HP, 580 ft lbs of torque, and the torque band is flat as a pancake with 90 percent torque from 2000 to 6000RPM. I wish I had one. In a Fiero, or a Mazda Miata/RX7.

wow what a waste of money, when u could get a termi Mustang motor, and do ahell of alot of mods on it for 13K and hand that LSX its ass everyday all day. Then its just a matter of fitting a Mod motor in one of those tiny cars.
A buddy of mine shoe horned a GTP motor in a fiero, and that car puts over 500hp to the ground, and its scary, it has no problem smoking the tires while at HWY speeds under boost. That car is insane and besides 650hp in a 6.4L f250, thats the only other car that actually scared me under full acceleration, and i have driven some crazy cars.

except for the part where whatever you can do to a termi, you can do to a LSX and make way more power.

also a brand new crate termi isn't really gonna cost you that much less than a new LSX

so you take your termi, scrap that heat-on and get a real SC like a KB or whipple, and then your just getting to the power levels of that big block sized displacement in a small block chevy out of the box, let alson after you put a couple of big snails to it...

trust me, I'm a huge termi fan(its in my top three favorite motor every built by ford), but I've seen way to many terminators get beaten by LS7s and LSXs... hell even a few LS2s and LS3s

if going fast is the goal, rarely is ford the cheapest way to get there.

I bought an -04 Cobra (terminator) brand new in late 04 I put 125k on that car till someone ran a redlight and almost killed me. I hit a Ford Flex, Toyota Prius and an 8ft circumference concrete utility pole=a;; 3 cars were totaled after my Cobra hit them. I lnow everything abuo those cars and no 'Ls' nothing is going to outrun that Cobra/ Change the lower pulley drop the cats, put cold air and retune= 465 hp dynoed at the wheels 100_0977.jpg100_0984.jpg

Heres what your not taking into account, for 13K u could buy a used termi, and mod it for way more horse than that LSX for the same money.(IE hand it its ass)
Sure ford isnt always the cheap HP, because there are alot of bowtie engines out there, so parts are cheap.
But here is part of the reason i love ford, because they arent the common HP plant, all these 32 fords and the like runnin around with a 350, i have no respect for, they put all this hard work into the car then use a run of the mill junkyard 350 or even a chevy crate engine that they painted, that takes no brains to do.
I am firmly against cross breeding, but i know i cant stop it, so all i can do is advocate for these low IQ LS whatever guys to look past the bowtie.

ive got no problem looking past the bowtie, and until a couple of years ago, I was 100% against them. but after spending enough time at the track and shops its hard to hate on simple cheap proven american horsepower. I still would never run anything with an old 350.

of course a used motor would be way cheaper than going the factory warrantied crate route, but then again that a whole different game... imagine how cheap you could build a blown LS2 for (hell LS3s are not still being able to be found at good deals) and even better, they make kits to drop them into pretty much everything

yeah pullied eatons might be a quick car around your parts, but this here is the Big 3's back yard. that just ain't gonna cut it. even with the pulley the eaton starts to fade off a lot in the upper RPMs its also just not as efficient as a good twin screw. with all that extra weight you need that pulley just to get you in the same ballpark as a Z06... let alone how badly you will get beaten when all they need is a little bigger cam, and since LS owners love to point out handling can make up a lot for less motor, who wins in that department? and that not even taken in all of the boosted LS3's and LS7's out there, trust me there are plenty of LS's out there that even KB Cobras can't keep up with...

termi's are fun cars for sure but they're starting to get a little long in the tooth. they're old news and the real competitions is coming from coyote's and Trinity's
but even the real deal 5.8 Trinity's are having trouble keeping up with LSA's and LS9's out there.

That was also a complete drop-in package, complete from intake to oil pan. The long block goes for 10 grand. And there's a reason everyone uses Chevy engines in their projects; they don't want to have drivetrain problems. You have to put about 30-40 percent more into a Ford to get the same power out of a Chevy.

Here is the few experiences that Having "Powered By Ford" on your ford car can bring u regardless of the dollar amount.

I will always be proud to display "Powered By Ford" because.......
I had a (found out later) heavily modded C4 Vette try to run me down, in my Fox and he never seen anything other than my tail lights till i let off the gas, the pure satisfaction of seeing his pissed off and angry face cursing at me as he went by as i exited the hwy, would make any none chevy guy beam with happiness knowing he was so mad and embarassed that his all mighty chevrolet corvette just got it ass handed to it, by a built, not bought FORD powered FORD Car. There is nothing like that feeling, at that point every penny spent was worth it.

Or Having a (back then last gen) Camaro SS owner point a handgun at you because HE wanted to race YOU, and u beat him onto the hwy from the Hwy entrance stop light. Yes, he actually pointed a gun at me, and i rapidly exited the hwy, and called the cops, only to find out from the trooper he had no license, and wasnt supposed to be in possession of a gun at all either.

Or How about when my "Bowtie" Father was riding with me to the "back to the fifties" car show in Minneapolis, and we had a 68 SS396 chevelle, wave me down for a race, and as we took off that chevelle got left behind, and having my stout christian non-swearing bowtie father say "F*** this car is quick, and get a huge smile on his face, because we had taken that car by a large margin, nothing beats that feeling, every penny spent is worth it

Or what about, the owner of the machine shop my 347 stroker motor went to, refuse to race me with his 387 stroker C4 corvette (different vette, different state), because he knew all the parts and work that went into that motor, and didnt want to risk his Vette being beaten by a Mustang. (his words not mine, i know his son in law, hes a good friend and a fellow ford guy)

The simple satisfaction of things like this, make money spent not so important, because of the pure joy the car gave me thru the people it embarrassed or gave a smile a mile wide too, and embarassing the cheap horsepower guys is the best, because i think it hurts that much more for them. Sure i could have went the brain dead cheap HP route, but the pure satisfaction a ford guy receives, because we are the under dogs, is that much better.

so... all of your experience with beating on bowties was all cars from 20+ years ago and have nothing to do with any LS motors?

I agree- I'm just talking about your 'average' street stoplight race. My 0-60 with the IRS and my superior driving skills =none can defend . Just kidding but the torque is what my big advantage was. I never noticed any 'flat spots' and the beast would pull all the way up to almost 7 k . God, I miss that car

I had a 1980 Triumph TR-7 convertible that I dropped a 350 chevy 4 bolt main from a 1970 SS Nova with a th350 trans. I kept that car for 14 years until I lost my storage and it had to go. I got pics somewhere but I'd have to find and scan. You want to talk about 'suprise"? Wait till that car pulled up beside you and then left you standing there with jaw hanging open. Very streetable-still handled good

Edit; I paid a guy to drop the motor in. He fabricated everything including an a/c bracket. It cost me 3 grand in 1988 to do it

thats where I always have problems with that car, the IRS is prone to wheel hop a bit, and unless you have a lot of practice, its hard to get a real good hook

thats why you see lot of guys that go for real big power with those (600 or more) getting ahold of the whole straight axle set up and getting rid of the IRS...

definitely one of Ford's best cars!
