Well the other night I went to the mall to buy my dad a fathers day gift. My car ran like it always does nice and strong. Parked the car in the parking lot, came out started it up and it was missing. So at first I thought since its been raining here all week that maybe a coil got wet. Today I went to tackle the problem by replacing the plugs and checking the COPs. Well one boot was torn so I replaced it all the plugs looked good so I figured I was good there. Started her up and still the same miss. At this point I figured I would drive it around and get it to throw a CEL but after 40 mins and nothing happening I gave up. Here are my questions. And heres a clip of it missing... 5 minutes prior to this video it was running fine again (first start of the day) All of the work I did was done after the video but the car still misses the same way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVkF6udX6T8

Is it normal for these cars not to throw a CEL and miss so badly?

How can I test COP's?

It will throw a code, just give it some time. Usually after driving for a short while with the miss it will throw a misfire code. They don't usually show up at idle, only under load.

Mine has always been the drivers side rear coil that caused the issue. The hardest one to get to of course.

Pull the fuel injector clips off 1 at a time, when you pull one and the rumble don't change, thats where the miss is.

Thanks man, good advice ill let you know if i can find it... I find it hard to believe the car hasnt thrown a code yet it has almost no power.... Fixed it using your method was the passenger side rear insulator had a small hole in it and was shorting. Must have over looked it during the spark plug change even though I was looking for it.
