Alright my cassette deck in my 97' Mark viii finally stopped working... still have radio but now can't listen to my ipod... I was thinkin of gettin a RF modulator but figured might as well do the whole thing... So...

my ??'s are... I'm gonna order my deck through Crutchfield... i've worked with them before and never had a problem... I was just curious cause I want to make sure... they don't have our cars in their database so... what adapters do I need?... I'm probably gonna just go single din... would like a double with touchscreen... but budget kinda defeats the actual benefits of having one... so I need an adapter to make it fit and the wiring adapter... and if you have any suggestions on any decks I should look at... I'm just pretty much looking for something user friendly and has ipod controls... 3 4V preouts would be nice also :)

so far for my system I've got... an alpine amp (4/3/2 channel) for the main cabin speakers... gonna run 5x7 two-way polks in the back... and hopefully some nice 5 1/4 components in front... just gotta get them still... I also have a PPI amp for the sub which is a 12" JL audio (got the amp and sub together from a guy for 100 bucks)... so yeah a lot of wiring and running...

if you guys have any tips or tricks chime in :)... I'm always ready do learn a little more... i'm gonna try and keep the rear panels in and just fish it in... remove the front door panels and rear seats... how long you think it'll take?... a got a couple friends that'll help and I'm hopin it should pretty painless... thanks for the help you always come through!!

Im still happy with my now ancient Alpine 9237 (or something like that). :) I purchased the Alpine AI iPod interface when it first came out. Hooks right into iPods and the iPhone just fine. Then you control it all, including navigation, from the head unit.

At the time this was the only system you could get like this. Now I think most brands have an iPod module that can interface.

I also have the XM kit. The XM kit is first in line, then the iPod kit plugs into that. The rest of the system is Type R with two Alpine amps.

Happy with it, but its not a crazy or expensive system.
