Sooooo, The recent history: About June/July I brought car to them b/c it was overheating and hesitation in starting. For about $561.00 R&R Intake Manifold assembly and replace gaskets was done. Recently: Early this week the car has been at the Lincoln Dealership since this past Monday while they try to figure out check engine codes on my car. They have told me its too many vacuum leaks and they just need to replace the whole thing which is what I thought they did and this may be pretty expense. I just need a little insight into the price it may run and what they should or should not have done at this point ????:confused:

I would do this myself! Dealer is using the wrong end of a plumbers helper behind you!

buck80 for a rental for the day, HELLO! 24.95 unlimited miles at the airports.

I wouldn't take my skateboard to the stealer...much less my Lincoln; they gotcha now, get out and cut your losses, imo

Yeah I have a side mechanic who pretty much changed out things for me over the years tires, struts, coils, ac work etc.

The easy stuff that is common to all cars, old and new. No specific knowledge required.

He just wasn't able to figure out what was causing the engine to keep coming on.

That would be turning the key to start, then back to run. :p

After a week at the dealership they told me too many vacuum leaks and unable to fix them...Thanks for options LVC

Too many vacuum leaks? There aren't that many possibilities. Replace the hard vacuum lines with rubber lines and be done. Should cost less than $20......

We can all agree that Stealerships have huge overhead and will always attempt to replace several items before getting to the real problem,
upsell upsell upsell. They are like a bad EX, once and awhile you just can't help yourself and simply must pay another visit for old times sake.

Maybe his manifold is cracked (it does happen), or maybe they are just taking the lazy expensive way out...
The Lincoln dealership that I use (when I have to) provides free rentals if the work takes more than one day. For less than a day they take you where ever you need to go and then bring you back. They used to do this in a limo, but recently they have switched to regular town cars.
