Dead coil....

anyone here ever bought a dead coil before... I'm pissed had a cylinder misfire on number 3 replaced the coil with autozone brand coil (only one available where i was yesterday) and I cleared the engine code and it runs like :q:q:q:q and poped up misfire cylinder 3 again this morning...

dead coil? something else/

Yes, it's possible that the coil's bad out of the box.

Did you replace the spark plug? Always replace the coils and spark plugs in pairs because a failure of one can cause the other to fail.

It could be the fuel injector for #3.

It could be the wiring to the #3 coil or injector.

It could be an internal failure in the PCM.

move the coil and see if the misfire code follows it?

Take the coil out and start the car then stick a screwdriver in it and if your lucky tell us what happens :lol:

Any good way to check injectors other than pulling them and turning the car on (not the engine) and check for leaks debris so on....
