Dash Lights?

I haven't done a lot of night driving with my Mark VII but I have noticed that the lights for the cluster of controls do not light up, and the lights for the shift do not light up. Also the temp control.

I found the fuse and it keeps blowing.

I found that the light for the shift are missing.

Where to begin is my question.

I have not found any lose wires are at least I haven't noticed any yet. But I can't keep the fuse from blowing.
 
There won't be a light for the shift because you don't have a manual.

As for the fuse, I ran into a similar problem with the fuse for my radio and I still have not figured it out. The only think I can think of is a wire is shorting against metal (insulation is missing). I would say its a short if it blows as soon as you put the fuse in.

That's what I'm thinking I just can't find it.

I'm not sure if this applies to your car(mine is a 91)
I have a separate switch from the headlight switch to adjust my dash lights.
When I purchased my car I had no dash,shifter,heater, or window/mirror
lights, I traced it to the switch for adjusting the interior lights.
These reostat(spelling?) switches tend to break, I tore mine appart after
confirming failure with a volt/ohm meter. I found it had been repaired
once before, so I opted for the bone yard and found a working one in
a 88 continental. So this switch would definatly warrant checking.

Hmmm, I did hear the fuse pop after adjusting the interior dimmer switch.

I will start looking there
