Ok I got bored today and decided to do this. I bought the mesh from advance auto parts for like $35. I want some honest opinions because if I get negative feedback I'm going to straight to LS Koncepts and ordering a Mclaren grille. Speaking of which, my LS is the color Ivory Parchment Metallic Tri-Coat. Will LSKoncepts paint the grille if it is the tri-coat paint? And if so what would everyone recommend, fully painted grille or just the surround and leave the center black?

That turned out really nice man great work. I still think there is a few spots you need to touch up around the rim, but it looks good.

Looks good. Add some black trim around the edges of the mesh to clean up and you have a keeper.

Any local bodyshop could do it for you. If you don't want to keep it, order an LSE Grille not a Mclaren, you don't have a Mclaren "color" for say.

really? i thought it'd look good im sick of the old waterfall grille i like grilles like the mclaren or mesh that have a lot going on. i was going to do subtle red and gray accents on the car like paint the brakes red and get red lincoln star emblems. if i got the lse grille, and had the surround painted to match the car and the center waterfall part painted dark gray or black would that be good?

OK here's the bottom line, I F'ING HATE CHROME...but that looks really damn good dude. and I mean it with all chrome hating set aside. How about chromeing the trim of a Mc Laren grill and leaving the inside black.

Whats with these grill's anyways, I mean how come we can get this one off but not any others:(

i really hate chrome too, i like that black chrome, but i hate the stock grille even more, ill probably put black trim around the mesh and paint the mesh black today since its nice out. ill probably buy another sheet of mesh and consider this a test run, and if it doesnt work out the second time im getting a mclaren grille with car color matched surround and leave the center unpainted. i personally like the color of my car a lot, it really does look tri-color. and i love the looks of the cars with the mclaren grilles

Glanga...can I be your friend..LOL j/k....Do you mean the Hyper Black, my TSW's came in that color and I have been thinking for a while if I should do my grill in that color but i think its limited right now to very experienced paint shops. Unless I am wrong, I may even try to paint my LS that color all together.

But Im not sure if thats the color you are talking about. And the Mc Larens are the best look as far as Im concerd as well. All the other waterfall/cascade chrome is to gody and so is the horizontal stuff. The Mclaren grill gives it a sport look I am leaving mine solid black for now unless I can get my car painted Hyper black but if i flip flop ....I dont even know anymore i have someany options cramed in my head and the baby gives me no time for anything..Damn her for beeing so much fun and cute.

I more than anything would like a pure white with a gold flip flop clear coat.
Not that chrome Illusion, Mystic or Chamelion color its a clear coat from what I understand that has a very faint hugh of color that shows in reflections.

ken....you didnt answer my questions!!!
I'd recommend with the McLaren to go with an unpainted center on the lighter colors. I think too much color would not look good. As for the tri-coat, we paint them all the time but have had an occassion where the paint did not match perfectly. It all depends on how the pearl coat lays and how the sun hits it. Tri-coats are a different breed when it comes to paint matching.

yeah im not sure what hyper black looks like, the black chrome i was talking about is on the new acura tl type-s, i test drove one and i have to say im disappointed, its faster than an ls but doesnt throw you back like a rwd does. anyway that has this dark black chrome on the trim, its pretty nice. its almost like a chrome gunmetal color. i hate chrome though, too flashy and bright its asking for trouble, if your in a line of cars on the highway, what car is the cop going to tag? i like subtle classier changes to a car. ill probably end up getting the mclaren grille with the surround painted to match and leave the center undone. and lsvipdemon, where in pa are you from??

usually the slower ones are doing the speed limit, he does need a reason to pull them over, cops have hemis now their egos are inflated they'll go for anything, i kind of like the police interceptor crown vics

looks fine the way it is, just clean up the edges a little bit IMO. Where you Jersey are you from?

all over really, turnersville, freehold, basking ridge
i know the edges look bad,i just got bored and did this as a test run, itd have been easier if i had access to a grinder but this was just spur of the moment, its hard to make all the edges even with a pair of scissors haha. ill try and put some moulding on it and if that doesnt tickle my fancy ill start over or get a mclaren grille

cool man, I'm from East Hanover in Morris County.
Didn't mean to come off douche-y about the edges btw.

cool i used to live in morris plains have some family in basking ridge, i was just in east hanover looking at a mustang
