Crazy problems with my LS no check engine light?

I have a 2000 LS V8 and I go through this every single day. Took it to the dealer and they say I have a knock coming from my timing chain on the passengers side of the engine. You can hear it really well when the car has been running for 30 minutes. Anyway When I start it a little bit of white smoke comes out of the passengers exhaust but when I pull off it rides fine for about 5 min. After that the car really gives me a hard time when I give it gas and I barely get acceleration also when I look in my passengers mirror I see a lot of black smoke coming from the exhaust. It does the black smoke no gas thing for about 10 or 15 minutes and then it drives fine for the rest of the day but everyday after it has been sitting overnight it does this. Im a previous cadillac owner and I thought lincoln was the way to go. Can anyone please help me? Im a unemployed college student too lol.

Everything I can think of would throw a CEL. Might get a live data reader and monitor the car's stats when running properly and when acting up. It may point you in a direction to look.

You might want to change your timing assembly before it completely fails on you like mine did. I got NO warning signs like you are getting. Even when mine broke it still didn't throw a CEL so don't just depend on that. I would do something quick and quit driving it. Just my advice though because if you completely break it like I did then you will have to worry about getting the head or heads fixed too.
