crazy climate control

So I'm cruising down the highway today with the heater on (floor position) then I switch to pnl/flr and it makes this crazy humming noise from the engine and the car starts to shake a little switch it back to flr its fine. Could this be some crazy vacuum thing I'm totally lost on this one

any chance your a/c tried to run and you have a bad compressor (ac)?

Sounds funny, but it was my alternator that was going bad whenever my climate control went crazy... replaced the alt when it died... no problems.

i did notice if i switched between the two in park the engine would bog a little bit

the eng bogging a little when ac is engaged is normal, the compressor puts another load on the eng when engaged

My heater control would especially flip out if I tromped on the gas from a roll... if it was off, it would turn on, light up every single light, blow a little air, then shut off.
