I hear a high pressure air release under the hood front left side when I stop the car. Then goes away after 10 seconds. (the car is also overheating) I'm pretty sure there is enough coolant in the system but I'll never know. (it's swallowed a gallon in the last day without leaking anything)

I'm about to take it to a shop to have a coolant system check done (30$) but was wondering if any of you had any ideas what this could be? Kinda want to know what to expect.

thats normal, a/c charge is releasing pressure.

FYI When saying a side of the car always picture it as you are in the drivers seat or you can just say passenger or drivers side

lol i figured you meant the right side, ac or maybe the air susp venting to park height. try shutting the car off and walking around to where you hear the noise but dont close the door......no noise its air susp, wont vent till after the door closes.

I have the same issue since I took out the a/c compressor. Sucking coolant but its not burning it or leaking. I got it pretty hot in the ordeal, maybe I steamed a bunch off and have air pockets now. Have a new air release sound on the passenger side when I turn off the car. Lasts a couple seconds.

I've only driven it a couple times adding coolant a couple times. Figured it was air working its way out. Being on the obama's weekly paycheck program, I really havent had to drive much. I'm sure I'll be here asking for help if it keeps sucking coolant.

Its the A/C equalizing in the system .. When the compressors runing, you have a high/low pressure side, but when you turn off the car, it lets the pressures equalize.
