Hey guys.
So I registered here because I have a buddy who went to a shop and was told it would be 350 bucks to change one coil pack. So, me being a hands on, DIY mechanic, I know my fair share of motor work, so I told him Id do it for free. I go there, unscrew the bolt holding the coil in place, pull out old, put in new, and started to screw the bolt back it and be on my merry way...thats where it got ugly...
Now that the head is broke off, as you all know, there is no way I could grab the stud with vice grips from the side, therefore, had to try from the top. Finally got it going with the little room I had to turn with and it broke even more. Now its broken down so it sits flush with the valve cover.
So now I have 2 questions....
1. If I was to take off the valve cover (which I feel would free up the remainder of the stud and I could grab from the side), how much would that expose the stud?
2. How important are thos bolts? Dont get me wrong I dont want to go that route, but I have electrical tape on it now and it runs fine, but if I was to not fix the stud, would the coil pack move around alot or will it sit in place pretty well with the harness attached?
Please helpppp!
