My 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII base model experienced a spark plug blowout recently.

Before removing the spark plug, I heard a noise for what was probably the broken bits from the bottom of the spark plug bouncing around in the cylinder.

After removing the spark plug, I used a skinny, clean wood dowel to prod around the cylinder, but I didn't hear any bits moving around.

Is there a tool for looking inside the cylinder to see what might be making the noise.

The affected cylinder is the one closest to the driver making it difficult to access.

I'm confident I can repair the spark plug threading, but I don't know how to check for and remove the bits in the cylinder.

The easiest suggested method is to take long pipe cleaners and coat them in grease, then fish them around the cylinder, removing every so often to see if you have metal stuck to them.

I see quite a few borescopes on Amazon for under $50.

What features should I be looking for to get a clear picture ?

Just get some thin walled tubing that will slip in plug hole. Tape it onto your shop vac and suck away. Put bend on it to get all around on top of piston. This walled copper tubing would work. Also best would be bore scope like mentioned.

Tubing on shop vac....good idea!
