Chrome molding.....NEED HELP!!

k well some jackass decided to hit me while my car was parked when i wasn't there. Anyways back is kinda scratched up, so i'll just touch up that. But my chrome molding is cracked not all of it just the left side. Nothing too crazy. I don't wanna pay $200 deductable. But dealership here in canada said that damn piece is $170 plus taxes!! Which is bull :q:q:q:q. Is there anyone here who has that piece. Or know where to get it. I need it! Also if you were me would get insurance to repaint whole bumper and get chrome trim and pay $200 or just do it yourself and hopefully cost you $100? Just a few scracthes and dents on the trim.

I would pay the $200, take the $500 from the insurance, buy the chrome piece, go to the bar, touch up the bumper, and pocket the rest.

In canada it doesn't work like that. I pay the $200 and basically will get a new rear bumper and chrome molding. or i can just touch up the rear bumper and get the modling. Its just scracthes, and 2 dents on the molding nothing crazy.

If you OWN the car than you can just keep the cash (here anyways.) I usually make out good on insurance repairs because I am able to fix it for less than I get from insurance, or break even without having to pay a deductible. I have done it on 4 occasions in my lifetime.

I would pay the deductible and let them pay for a brand new bumper, paint and detail to match it to your car. While you are at it tell them your entire car needs a detail so the paint will match. In the end it will cost you more, way more than $200. So I would think the deductible is worth it if you cant handle the cash on your own.

But you have to hope that your agent that inspects the car will go for the fact that the entire bumper needs to be replaced.
