Check Strap

Just wondering, when I got my LS the drivers side check strap was gone except for a small piece still attached to the car and I noticed that these where for sale on E BAY. So my question is are these a common problem?

are you talking about the black piece inside the door? theres been a couple with that problem, how much is missing? the part from the door? i know it screws into the door jam with 2 allen wrench bolts, dont know what it looks like inside the door, just take off the panel
