So my drivers seat has a hole in the leather now. The heated seat doesn't really work anymore, and it looks bad. Is there a way to redo the leather and put another heated seat module or something in it? or would it be better to buy a whole new seat and be done with it? I dont know much about this but any input helps.

A local auto upholsterer should be able to replace the damaged panel a well as install the new heating element (assuming gen 1 here....).

It's a heat and cool module that you need. It's not related the the torn seat at all (no heating element in gen II). There's a new one on e-bay right now for $180. They describe it as seat heater, lower air duct, but it looks like the whole thing.

I replaced the seat cover on mine. The cover was about $700 if I remember correctly.

Thanks for posting that, Joe. I actually have been having issues with my driverside seat, sometimes the heating seat works (1 out of 10 times?) most of the time it doesn't. So I'm going to look into buying that module.

You're welcome. I'm looking for the passenger side (just need the blower).

700 to fix this? Is it a DIY kind of job? or do I have to take it somewhere?

Actually your right. sorry about that. I'm going to look into getting a replacement seat rather then re covering it. Try to save me a few hundred. Thanks for the help!

but with a seat cover around 500 bucks from fordpartsgiant? Might as well get a used replacement for cheaper.

Keep searching clist and ebay for a used seat in your color. And if you're really lucky you'll find one local that you can test before buying to ensure everything works.

Check the seat filter. If the underside has shiny spots, then it may be that the filter is being sucked up into the fan blades enough for the computer to shut it off. This was happening with my passenger seat, and what I found was the mesh holding the filter was weak and had shiny spots where the fan blades were hitting it. Right now I have paper clips holding the filter away and the seat works fine. Also have a couple of new filters in the garage, have not had a chance to put the new ones in yet.

O Reilly's can get new Motorcraft filters, FS-100, but there's only one to a box, 16 bucks each.

Thanks I'll check that out, however my fan NEVER stops. I can fully hear it running the whole time, just the seat doesn't get hot. Everyday it's left on AUTO and once maybe 3 days ago it worked, shocked me that it actually worked, but like I've stated it may work 1 out of 10 times.

I have replaced my seat cover myself. Bought the cover off of ebay. You will need to have a Hog Ring Pliers and a bunch of hog rings. A good hardware store will have these for you. Don't try to do this with a regular pliers, you need the right tool for the job. Took about 3 hours start to finish.

In that case it may not be the same thing. We couldn't hear the fan on hers when it would fail out.
