When dropping the pan, draining the TQ and changing the tranny filter, how many quarts of Mercon 5 do I need?

I always get 14, but I think the required amount is in the range of 12 to 13. DONT FORGET TO FLUSH THE TRANS COOLER LINES! PLEASE!!!! :)

Not recommended unless you regular the pressure low. The best thing to get is a can of trans flush, its designed specifically for flushing trans lines and cooler. Hook it up and use the entire can to flush that cooler out! You'd be surprised how much junk can build up in there, maybe nothing, maybe LOTS.

ya i figured low pressure on the lines was a good idea but i'll check out the cooler flush. does it come in a can that is pressurized?. would they have it at autozone or advance auto part's?. thanks.

Ya, its like a can of WD40, etc. Pick it up anywhere. I think the fluid flush would be better to wash it out versus blowing air. But if you wanted, a flush followed by air would not be a bad idea.
