on some lses there is are little grills on either side of the console! Are those speakers or for air?

Center channel speakers. I think they are for the effects. You're not missing much with them not there imo. Can be found using the search function, I once asked the same question.

Welcome to LVC!

If I'm thinking of the same thing as you I believe those are interior temp sensors.

Believe what you want, but you are wrong. They are center channel speakers for those with the twelve speaker systems.

(The air temperature sensor is up on the dash on the driver's side.)

Yeah, that's the little doohickey I was thinking of. Guess that wasn't what the OP was referring to

Edit: just checked my car. I have the THX system so I assume my speaker setup is different. Only grill I have near my console is the one the driver side which is temp sensor. Not to threadjack but I had had an interior question as well. I was wondering what the deal with my trim is. Instead of the wood trim (too old folksy for me anyway) I have this silverish colored textured trim. UP close it almost looks like fish scales. Really hard to get it to show up on this crappy camera though, but I think you can make it out. Is this a standard trim or something aftermarket the previous owner put on?

I have the same thing in my 03 sport. I have it on my passenger and driver side dash and part of the trimming around the door handles on all four doors.

That is the standard (non-premium) aluminum trim. Here's a brochure to look at.
