Does anyone have one of the 5 star 17" wheels laying around that came on the gen1 sports? I need to know the size of the hole where the center cap goes. I know everyone says the caps are 2.25 but, I think that's an overall diameter. I'm looking for the actual size of the hole on the face side of the rim. Thank you in advanced.

I included a link to a picture just to be sure of what wheel I was refering to.

Yeah, they're better to enjoy then they are to move.
Thanks

damn... i forgot again (crazy day). I set a reminder to check by the time i get home...

The hole itself appears to be 2.5" or slightly smaller. That's at the face of the rim.

What do you need it for? Making your own center caps?

last time i bought a center cap on ebay it only took a few weeks and the "chrome" paint chipped off and now i have a regular old center cap lol

Damn. I am putting wheels on my LS and wanted to put Lincoln center caps on them. The hole opening in the wheels I want to put on is 1 7/8, so it sounds like the lincoln caps may be to big.
Just to clarify, so there is no confusion and I covered all my basis before giving up, I'm looking for the size of the hole that the actual center cap grips onto to hold it into place.

correct.. the actual hole is 2 1/2". now thats the face of the hole (the diameter of the hole in the front edge of the rim.

Sorry for the crude picture, but between the arrows is actually what i'm looking for. I would assume that it has a recess where the center cap sits down in and and the actual hole in the center the center cap clips into.

so your wanting the narrowest part of the opening? I actual inside (of the rim) diameter. Im sure the face (chrome part) has a bit of a lip to it... U want the actuall open length.

Well in that case, do what I did for my volvo wheels. Take 4 oem gen1 center caps with the lincoln logo on them, peel the emblem off, then glue it on to your new wheel's center cap. Mine said volvo on them so I had painted them and glued the emblems on.

You got it! I'm looking for the actual opening.

I don't have any center caps now and was hoping for something as simple as buying the LS ones and having them fit :D.

The gen1 wheels or the wheels you have?
