I've got a 2001 V8 and it has the facotry Alpine 6 disc changer. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with a specific brand of CD-RW discs working in the CD Player. I'd prefer using CD-RW discs instead of CD-R discs, however I have some memorex CD-RW discs that the player will not read and I know a lot of players are really touching with RW discs, so I wanted to know if anyone has used a brand that works and the player can read?

all i use is the cd-r blanks any brand works in my factory 6 disc alpine changer i have in my 2000 continental..

The owner's guide recommends that recordable CDs not be used in the audio system. You did read the manual, right?

The manual also says that I should take my car to the dealership to do anything other then fill up the gas tank. You did read my question, right?

I have had problems with some CDR's and none with others. One of the problems had a label so I guess it was causing problems because it was bigger...I guess the answer might be buy the thinner one's....

I'm asking about CD-RW (rewriteable CDs) not CD-R CDs. I know why the CD-RW CDs don't always work in CD players, however I would like to know if anyone has had a brand that has in this player, before I go out and buy a couple of different brands only to find they don't work as well. I would prefer using CD-RW discs so I can contiunually change the music without throwing away discs.

You may not find any brand or CD-RW that works.
The reason is simple physics. The way that CD (and CD-R) are read by the CD player is that the laser is alternately reflected or interrupted (or scattered). But CD-RW is very different. The reflected laser light is alternately polarised in one direction or the other. The optical system of the CD player needs to be designed specifically to read this phase or polarisation change. Not all can. You may want to stick with CD-R. They are cheap enough to be disposable anyway.

The only proper way to make CD/RW disks work.........

is to close the disk in ISO 9660 format. That way they are made readable by almost all modern players. You will still be able to rewrite tham in your computer. But I do have to ask, with the very low price of CD/R's as compared to the price of CD/RW's, why would you even want to do it? I have a bunch of CD/RW's of different brands that I will send you just for the cost of postage. Then you can try them out. My advice as someone who has been in the computer industry for 20 years is use CD/R's. And then if you don't like the mix, trash it or give it away. Actually to keep the RIAA off your AZZ, just trash it.

I did, and you obviously didn't read my answer OR the manual. You're asking for trouble if you use CD-RW discs in your player. But hey, its your car and money.....

Like I said... I understand why some of them don't work and their differences. I'm just asking a simple question if anyone has happended to have a specific brand work for them in this specific player.
