yes they are but that cant be the problem because they worked the first day i got the car and yesterday also just today when i left work it started to happen

While you said it worked two days prior, Lincoln owner’s manual states certain recordable and re-recordable CD will not function properly or if you have stick on labels. The CD unit is designed to play commercially pressed CD’s.

Try ejecting the CD’s and use a commercially pressed CD.

it wouldn't work with whatever aftermarket double din unit you use anyways... At least I don't think it will.

A lot of double din touchscreens have ipod capability. Just get the adapter for the ipod, and run the wire into the glove box when you do the double din. works pretty slick.

I would not suggest compressed air. It wont help at all unless it can escape and I really never checked but I doubt it will be able to escape. In most cases it causes it to build up in one spot over and over.

While CD players may be able to read some burnt media it is hard on the lens and can force it to come out of position and may even lead to the lasers short lived life. Cd player magazines like ours sometimes have troubles playing disc's with labels and in some cases get jammed ( depending on the player ). Also not all media is the same size. Believe it or not some disc's are a tad bit thicker than others. All this could be causing the problem. I too have had disc's work one minute and not the next but after playing original disc's for a bit of time the copy ends up working and then sometimes "or" eventually it stops.

Like the other guy said, make sure it plays non copied media first and then experiment with brands of CD-R's. I use Sony. It works about 75% of the time in everything use them in. Some players they work no matter what with out fail but some others even on the same brand disc's don't work. CD players of our types are very unpredictable with this stuff.

I found that using Sony brand and burning the disc's as slow as it allows helps them to work most of the time in the LS CD player as well as not printing and adding labels.

To my knowledge most of them will. Everything these days does.

hey guys thanks for ur replys and the weird thing is i woke up this morning and tryed it again and bam it worked but im still gonna put the double din in because i think it just makes the interior look that much better its worth time and money anyone got any suggestions on what type of unit i should get?

Hey guys, Ive got an 04 V8 and am having the same issue whether its a burnt cd or a store bought. It will work for the first couple songs and then say bad disk. 1100 miles over warranty so dealer wont help, Is it possible to install an after market (pioneer premier 7000) with out computer issues, and still be able to use steering wheel controls? Any help on this issue I would greatly appreciate. I don't feel its worth buying a new factory POS changer when i could pay less and get more. Thanks
