Thinking of cutting the cats off my 2000 LS v8. Seems Casper has went out of business so I am having a hard time finding o2 simulators for the car. After looking around online I came across a mechanical way that people are using to trick the system. I have searched here and seems every post never really gets a definite answer

came across these

anyone tried this?
anyone not running the rear sensors at all?

sorry to link to other forums

just throwing this out there, but why not replace them with high flow units? You won't have to worry about MIL elim's, and with the HP range you'll be looking at... high flow performance cats will have very little effect on your numbers.

Inspectors can tell the O2 sensor has been tampered with if you use something like those. No doubt it would work, but you wont pass emissions tests with it.

magnaflows came today, a exhaust shop told me there were 4 cats on the car:confused:

The rear O2's can also be turned off in the tune as well rather than the MIL's which just fool the PCM. If you have then turned off in the tune then the emissions system will more of less think it is functioning as normal and you should have no problem passing the visual or even scan tests.

With that said, I do not believe that anyone should be taking their cats of their LS's. Just not really an advantageous mod for these cars. In my opinion it also makes them sound like crap. They are not that terribly restrictive so do not bother removing them unless you are about the most modded LS on this site.
