Cash for clunkers help...

I have an old truck to trade in and about 12-15k to put on top of the 4500 for trade in. Does anyone know if this clunker program only applies to brand new cars? My uncle says he's heard stuff on the radio about certified preowned cars as well.

New. There has been some talk about it potentially applying to used, but as of right now... just new.

Plus, the vehicle had to be insured in your name for the past 12 months, or they wont accept it.

They are right. Your best bet is to go into a dealership and talk to the salesmen. I gaurentee they know ALL the details. The dealership I work for had 50 cash for clunker deals last week alone. You may want to go asap before both the money, and new car inventory runs out, because both are going fast.
