car wont start, can you guess what it is?

after a couple days of non use, i returned to my ls and fired it up, only to hear nuttin but ticking sounds. i got a jump from a small japanese car, but it wouldnt budge, so i got my fathers reliable american v6 van to give it some power, and it worked. i left it charging for awhile and it seemed to be fine until i noticed one of my amps was remaining on hence why my battery was dying out completely. i disconnected the amp and drove normally for 2 days, just to be sure. everythin was fine until i go this morning to the car and it wont even unlock the doors cuz its so dead. the amp is disconnected and i specifically remembered to disconnect the battery cables on the car when i had got it jumped to see if it was the alternator. car kept running fine so i doub :q:q:q:q the alternator. does anyone else agree its the battery? i am picking one up for 80 bucks at my local shop tomorow, hopefully that will solve the issue. for now, ill be enjoying my ride to work in ol faithful, my 1990 honda accord ex 5 spd with over 200,000 miles and broken everything.
 
I would agree

At first glance I would say yes, its the battery. I replace mine every six years no matter what, just so I don't encounter those conditions.
 
i recently have been having the same problems with mine but i think figured it out. My batt is about 1 year old and i had it looked at and it came back fine. I had to get it jumped once a week for about 3 weeks until i tried unplugging my ipod transmitter and now everything works fine. The worst part of it was i had to get jumped by a Hyundai accent lol
 
you could do a parasitic drain test, with every thing off, disconnect the neg battery terminal and put a DMM (Digital Multi Meter) in line with the battery cable you just unconnected (attach the neg lead from the meter to the neg battery post and attach the pos lead from the meter to the neg battery wire) set the meter to AMPs and see how much power the car is using while its just sitting there(doors close and have something holding the trunk sensor closed, ), it the current draw is over .1A then you have a problem, start pulling fuses one at a time until the drain goes away to find the problem.
 
hopefully the only thing that was draining the battery was the amp that didnt want to turn off, otherwise im gonna have to do that test.....i just wanted to make sure it wasnt the alternator or anything
 
BTW, with a car with this amount of sensitive electronic equipment, you never want to disconnect the battery with it running, as this could cause some serious damage to the cars many modules.

a better test of the alt would be to start the car and turn on as much stock equipment as you can (headlights, heater fan on high, domelights, BUT NO AFTERMARKET STEREO) and see what the voltage the alt is putting out is, should be above 14V for a good alt

yeai know i was wondering why that happened lmao. i wrote.....i doubt its.....but then yea somehow managed to write :q:q:q:q. lol
