car wash drive through problem..

so today i wanted to wash my car cuz of all the snow and dirt and i went to the drive through where u put the car in N (natural) and the machine pulls the car...but when i was trying to get in i was hearing the front hit the thing where ur spouse to put the wheel idk whats it called but it was hitting it. is the LS really low that it cant go into the car wash.​

let that be a lesson to ya., not to be an ass but i never go to the automatic car wash or the ones you speak of.. they only damage your paint and god knows who is in your car cleaning it and sometimes they jump in while its on the line and the doors get dinged.. they suck. plus they tear up your rims.. they totallt curb rash the hell out of wheels. i know its cold but its only a few minuted to go to a bay and wash it or try a rinseless wash to clean it .. we just talked about the rinseless wash in the lincoln ls detail thread, check it out

yeah this was my 1st time wanting to go there usually just wash it with a blanket of water in my parking lot when its warm but the snow and cold dont feel like washing my car outside haha nothing was massed up to the car as soon as i heard the noise i pulled out

Remember that if you ever bring it to the DIY car wash bays, never NEVER use the foam wash brush. Only use the pressure washer. That foaming brush is the DEVIL.

I suggest a rinseless wash, like Optimum No Rinse. That's what I use during the winter.

With my car lowered I have never even attempted a car wash. If you need to use a car wash try to find the ones where the car stays stationary and the machine moves back and forth over your car. We had one at the Audi dealership I worked at and I would use it a couple of times a week. Or find a indoor hand wash.

I used those Laser washers once, they suck.

Nothing came clean at all. I would just do it in a self serve bay. Those brushes in the automated washes are just as bad as the brushes in the self serve bays. The automated washes with the chamois like brushes are if not just as bad even worst!


When we do ours by hand with those type of cloths we make sure it stays clean of debris but no one can or at least no one does make sure those at the automated car washes stay free of crap that will scratch the paint. Stuff can get slung out of the brushes easier but with those chamois like ones things can get embedded in pretty good considering some of them dont spin at high speeds but just flop around.


Do it yourself in the self serve bay.

I didn't know they still had those touch type automatic carwashes anymore. I haven't seen one in years!

If one absolutely MUST use the self serve bay, at least take the pressure washer over to the foam brush, and pressure wash the isht out of it before actually using it.

My advice would be to pay the $1.25/$1.50, wash the LS with the soap pressure wash and underneath for the 4 min. that you get and wet a microfiber wash mitt.

After your time is up, take the mitt and run over the wet car, then pay the other $1.50 to finish up.

As was previously posted, those brushes are terrible. I see trucks using them...look at some of them, you may even find stones in them.

I don't drive my LS in the winter, but this is what I do with my Taurus in the winter. I used a clay bar and new wax before winter and don't want to ruin it with a trip to the automatic car wash. I usually just spend $1.50 to get the salt off, then come home and use a bucket to finish.

if your lowered it wont fit.... im not sure about stock... never tried either way. I like the autowashes that move around your car and only use pressure washers for the winter. The under carrage things on some of them are crazy powerful! i felt the car rock on one of them

yeah that's what i was trying to figure out i know there's no way to go in with a lowered ride my friends civic is dropped and no way of going in but my LS is stock..and i only had 2 people in the car me and a friend so it couldn't been weight that made it lower...anyone know how low the car is stock.?
