I washed and waxed my black 94 Mark today. Found someone keyed the panel over the drivers side rearwheel. It's about 12 inches long. Tried lightly using polishing compound then wax. It's not REAL noticeable but the white underneath shows. I have a bottle of factory touchup, but... I'm afraid it will look worse afterwords. As a kid I could'nt spray paint my model cars without any runs. Has anyone had success with any of those advertised Scratch Removers or the like ? Thanks in advance. Gary in Elmira, N.Y.

is it through the paint? can you run your finger nail and feel the indentation? if its not, you need to have it high speed buffed. Also you could try it yourself with rubbing compound from a local autoparts store. if its through the paint, your F'd.. scratch removers work more like on swirl marks..

You can get a high speed buff done at a detail shop.

If it is through the paint you can touch it up and wet sand it back to smooth original level of the stock paint. THen buff the heck out of it. Better off just waiting til you get enough scratches and paint the whole car.

If your fingernail does not fit into the scratch wet sand with 2,000 Grit, then speed buff with wool pad and cutting compound, followed by sponge pad and glaze and then hand polish.

To cover fine scratches i put the touchup on just enough to cover it and then use a rag to wipe the access of right after. so that it goes into the crack and doesnt effect the paint allready on the car, might take a few times though.
