So i got a good two months out of my car between repair visits. Even though its not costing me anything i am feeling some of you with your worries about the expense associated with an LS. This time while driving with the cruise set at 70 mph a warning chime went off and stated "Check advancetrac", both the abs and advancetrac lights came on and stayed on. From my research it looks like a wheel sensor is usually the problem. This time though i took it to an actual Lincoln Dealer. I must say the experience is much different than a Ford dealer. Didnt have to haggle about a rental they just gave me a new Town Car Signature. The Town Car is nice but its HUGE. Its definately the old man version of the LS. The V8 is kinda mushy but its nice to have RWD. A Town Car is missing some nice touches that the LS has, but also has its nice things. Its funny because this car has both the hood ornament and the grill emblem, which i know has been discussed here and i think it looks a little silly.

Well...I had that same problem happen to me, and yes there is definately a difference in service between Ford and Lincoln. When I called up to schedule an appointment at about 1pm they told me to bring it in at 2 that day. They had my car back to me by 4:30 that day....and they also fixed my trunk release! No questions....no haggles.

That does look weird, I never noticed that before. Almost looks good, like a shadow or reflection of the hood ornament star.... buuuut not quite :bash:

FWIW, I had this problem a few months ago. The problem turned out to be a bad yaw sensor.

Got the car back today. Replaced the R/R speed sensor which is what i suspected. Cheap fix, $30 part- $46 labor.....looks like it could have been a DIY job, but it was a warranty fix so i wanted to experience the service at the closest Lincoln dealer. I was impressed. Good service, free Town Car to cruise around (beat on) for a day. They washed and returned the car cleaner than i gave it to them. They did recommend the usual nonsense, wipers, cabin filter, oil change. All that is driveway work. Do people actually pay to have new wipers installed ? Anyway, even though technically a Ford dealer and a Lincoln dealer should be able to do the same quality work, the Lincoln dealer is a nicer experience. And its cool to check out all the cars on the lot, see how many LS's were in the work bays to be fixed. Good times.

Just wondering..would it have been possible for a DIY'er to have diagosed this...down to the specific sensor that went bad?

Maybe. There are diagnostic procedures ("pinpoint tests") for the systems on the car; the shop manual or a $25 subscription to AllDataDIY will get them for you. Whether you can perform them depends on your skill level and the tools you have available.

I asked them that exact question and although it may be possible it wouldnt be easy. It doesnt show any pcm codes. The invoice states: WDS BCE Test, Pinpoint test, PID Mon/Rec, Replace R/R Speed Sensor. I guess if you have the equipment it can be done. In the case that its just one sensor it would cost more to get it diagnosed and fix it yourself then to just let them do the work. If it wasnt under warranty the cost would have been $88.55.
