Like many Mark VII and Mark VIII owners who have that problem, what is its purpose, I heard that it can just be removed, is that safe or did I hear wrong? TIA
Sounds like you may have reused the old ones when you put on the new rotors and pads. The springs may have been bent too far.
As far as taking them out, the reason for the clips is to prevent the problem you are complaining about so I'm really trying to grasp how removing them fixes your problem.
What about your ball joints and strut rod bushings. Something is causing the vibration that is causing the rattle. I'd check the suspension components as well.
the rattle sounds like grasshoppers in my wheel but it goes away as soon as I apply the brakes. This metal retaining clip sounds like its bobbling around so if I remove the metal clip, the noise will go away. This metal clip would be right in between the (2) pads where the narrow opening is on the caliper just to make sure we are talking about the same things:
Anyone have a pic of what I am talking about,
