After having my rotors refinished, I got new caliper anchor bracket bolts (had to buy bolts + washers from Ace Hardware) and called the Lincoln dealership for the torque specs on those bolts, which they said was 87ft/lbs, which is certainly incorrect. I tried torquing them to 87ft/lbs but before I ever got there, something yielded, and it turned out to be the threads in the caliper rather than the bolt head.

A bunch of metal shavings came out of the hole, and the threads inside look dulled. I think I can still get the bolt in and it will stay in, possibly even to about 65ft/lbs, which I think is probably around the real torque spec.

I want to just put the old bolt in and leave it, I'll be able to tell if it comes loose again while driving before anything major happens. Can I do this?

Should I go try and see what the LM dealership says and if they will help me out since they gave me a false torque specification? It was only given over the phone though.

Never mind, its only the anchor bracket, so Ill just get another one from a junk yard. Could a mod please delete this thread?

The big anchor plate bolts should be torqued to 65-88 lb-ft (88-119 N-m).
The lil bolts that hold the caliper to the sliders on the anchor plate should be at 16-24 lb-ft (22-32 N-m).
