I was thinking about getting a CAI for my '02 LS V8, but I was wondering if anyone knows how installing one affects gas mileage. Mine is bone stock right now, and I actually like how quiet it is. I've got a '72 Chevelle with 2 chamber Flowmasters if I want to hear a nice exhaust note (if you can call it a note :D). I'm just looking for a bit of HP gain on the LS without sacrificing any MPGs.

I saw no change at all after installing the K&N on my 03. But I'm sure it cant do anything to hurt mileage, you're just letting the motor breathe easier. If you're considering it to increase mileage, its not worth it. If you're just concerned about lower mileage, go for it.

I don't think anything you do actually hurts your mileage. It just adds more air into the engine. The only way it hurts your mileage is because you are stomping on the gas all the time.

That's what I assumed, and it probably sounded like a dumb question. I just wanted to check with people on here who have installed them.

Which one does anyone suggest? It looks like the K&N 57 Series is only for the 2003+ LS. Is the KKM my only choice?
