I searched and didn't find what I was looking for, but what is the gain in using 99+ Conti C heads on a N/A M8?
Thanks
Joe

the ability to use a better intake/supercharger... wasn't sure conti heads work but they might, I am sure someone else will chime in on that... Any how heres an example of what you can do with c heads; you can bolt the eaton from the 03/04 cobra on there.

I am interested in this as well. Although B heads are cheap and I would bet mild porting on the B heads will give better all around results then the C heads.

true but you cant match up a cheap used Cobra Eaton onto it. They make a Kenne Bell for the B heads, but it not the greatest. Centrifugal types seem to be the way to go.

I am just speculating and as much as would like the Cobra Eaton I don't see tha happening for a while. If C heads and a newer Cobra intake are worth 20hp or more over a shortened runner Cobra intake on stock heads I might think about it.

Do the C heads respond better to porting and/or cams?

Porting is a waste of money. Thats been actually dyno-proven over and over. With 03/04 heads I was told they are all spec'd the same but certain ones are forged I think?

Me thinks that the C heads aren't very useful unless you go with a s/c...I am thinking along with an O2 sensor change, a 3.27 gear, x pipe, tune and jmod. I am not looking to be the fastest, just a bit faster from 0-80. This is a dd so fuel economy is right up there with performance in the priority pecking order. I know you won't get both, it's either one or the other, but there's a happy medium that I can live with. Damn greedy oil companies and Dubya are screwing the pooch on my building my M8 up. :(

The confusion is great in this thread.

b heads and cobra intake on otherwise stock mark viii .... you might see 245-250 RWHP.
c heads (03-04 especially) and 01 cobra intake easy 265-270 rwhp plus gobs of torque over flat b heads.

c heads respond very well to boost also, especially mid range.

b heads shine mainly in the very high rpms, especially when well ported and used with boost in the 6-9krpm range.

Ask yourself a question ... how much time do you spend in the 6k+ range on the street ?

These are heavy cars and they need power down lown. Enter c-head world.

03-04 Cobra and Mach 1 Heads are the best performers
Ported/Polished B heads are great for a supercharged engine

Thanks. Exactly what I wanted to know.

:I To confirm 99+Continentials had/have the c heads? If so I think I can get a 00 with about 95k for about $850....it's been in several accidents and looks like hammered cat s$*t but he maintained the running gear well...

Yes they do. Also, those first "C" head years have adapter plates so they could use the old "B" style intake with the "C" heads.
